"SUN" SOLAR PV
STREET LIGHTING SYSTEM
Solar street lighting system is an ideal
lighting system for the illumination of streets, squares and
cross roads located in areas that are not connected to the
power grid. This fully integrated System combines the latest
and most innovative technologies available providing years
of convenient and trouble free lighting. Fully assembled
factory tested Kits are available with or without mounting
poles.
The Standalone Solar photovoltaic Street
lighting system comprises of a Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL
Lamp) as light source, re-chargeable lead acid battery for
storage, PV modules for charging the battery, Suitable
electronics for the Operation of the lamp and safe charging
and discharging of the battery and mechanical hardware for
fixing these sub systems.

Sun is available either with automatic dusk to
dawn operation or with a pre- set timer. |

Sun is available in 6 models depending on the
wattage of the SPV Module, type and size of the battery and mode of
operation. |

Luminaries are also available with 35/26 W Low
Pressure Sodium Vapor (SOX) lamps and higher Wattages of Compact
fluorescent lamps against specific customer requirements. |

The SOX lamp is a monochromatic (Yellow Orange)
light source delivering the highest possible lumens per watt. CFL Lamp
provide slightly less lumens per watt, but produce a white light which
actually appears brighter than SOX and should be used in areas where
color rendition is critical. |

applications.
Solar street lights can be economically viable and
efficient in a number of applications, mostly in areas where the
cost of providing electricity is expensive or problematic.
Due to their low power consumption and very long life-span, LED
Street lights are a good alternative to LPS (Low Pressure Sodium) or
MH (Metal Halide) lamps. |

The installation of a traditional street light,
whenever the central power grid is not available in the vicinity,
implies high investment costs due to installation of cables,
excavations, repaving of road asphalt, etc. The installation of SUN
solar street lights on the contrary is free of these problems,
because it has independent energy source and the installation is
very simple and easy. Moreover, the SUN solar street light is
autonomous, ecological, and without operations and maintenance
costs, with the only exception of the light bulb which needs to be
replaced every 28000 hours. The reliability of this stand alone
system is very high as the electricity supply is not subject to
interruptions as grid powered street lights are. Furthermore, our
Solar Street Light technical design and layout make this street
light safe from thieves, and from heavy conditions such as strong
winds.

• The Solar Module is manufactured by us
with high efficiency solar cells assembled and laminated at high
temperature on a toughened and tempered glass with high
transparency. The module typically has a lifespan of over 30- 50
years.
• The Regulator is a battery charge
regulator with a microprocessor that gives optimal functioning of
the street light. Battery charge control with various charge regimes
(cyclical, buffer and equalizing charge) in order to guarantee the
maximum production and most efficient storage of energy from the
solar module. Discharge control ensures optimum performance of the
battery, switch off of the lamp if the battery reach a state 75%
discharge.
• Light sensor for the automatic switch on and
off the lamps after sunset and automatic switch off at sunrise.
• "PLUS" function which serves as an automatic
increase of lighting time of the lamp in accordance with the amount
of energy that the battery has stored. This very important function
allows adaptation of the period of lighting, dependent on the actual
amount of energy captured by the solar module and stored in the
battery during the day. After the standard minimum period of 6 hours
programmed, the microprocessor will verify the actual state of
charge of the battery and, should it still have energy, it will keep
the lamp on for the rest of the night. |

• The regulator has a maximum capacity of 10
Amperes and is equipped with a fuse to protect it from short
circuit. It is designed to perform at extreme temperature and
humidity conditions and includes a temperature compensation device.
It has signals for state of battery charge and eventual fails of the
system, and ensures the optimal battery lifetime under all
environmental and operational conditions.
• The DC/AC ballast serves the SOX lamp,
transforming an input current at 12 Volts DC into an AC output of
stabilized current at high frequency, suitable to power a large
light bulb and typically able to guarantee a durability of over
28000 hours. This ballast can be positioned inside the lamp casing.
• The lamp is made of SOX 18W, 35W bulb,
with a luminous flow of 2700 lumens, 5200 lumens. Typically the lamp
is installed at about 6 meters from ground and its light generates a
18-20 meter diameter cone of light. |
